Legacy Chiller System Power Problems - chiller shutdowns

SUMMARY
This article describes how incoming power problems to your Legacy Chiller may cause intermittent chiller shutdowns. This article shows you how to change your factory settings to make your chiller less sensitive to building power anomalies.

SYMPTOMS
Intermittent trips of power monitor or phase monitor causes compressor to shut down and may cause an micro-processor high temperature (HTA) alarm.

CAUSE
In some cases, incoming power problems to your Legacy chiller system equipped with an ICM phase monitor may cause intermittent chiller shutdowns. In these cases, the following adjustments will help to slow the monitor’s reaction times to such power problem, reducing the potential for such shutdowns.

RESOLUTION
See phase monitor service bulletin that provides detailed information on how to adjust factory setting. These adjustments are designed to make the power monitor or phase monitor less sensitive to building power anomalies will still providing a reasonable level of protection.
